Autism and Aspergers Syndrome

Our autism services provide specialist input for service users along the autism spectrum. Our staff are trained to develop strategies for each individual to maximise communication and minimise behaviours. Our staff work to monitor unpredictable behaviour and identify what the service user is trying to tell us. Through person centred planning we aim to identify the positive influences for each person thus reducing the challenges that they may display.

Autism & Aspergers Syndrome

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans are in place for each service user and PBS is used to engage service users. With the support from Mental Health in Learning Disability Team (MHLD) and Community in Learning Disability Teams we aim to identify the causes of what the person is trying to tell us.

We use a range of communication aids where required and each individual is assessed by Speech and Language Therapist from the community teams identifying the appropriate communication aid. Our services are located in residential areas with a wealth of community facilities nearby and our service users can develop links with local amenities.

Our services have small bed numbers and have spacious communal areas and gardens. We have worked hard to maintain a homely atmosphere in which service users can feel safe and supported.
