We are a relatively new organisation although both directors have a wealth of experience in their fields of expertise. We started our foundation building in November 2013. Our time initially was taken up with registering the service with CQC and ensuring all our policies and procedures were in place.
Our first service was purchased in May 2014, planning permission was sought and it was extended and renovated to a high specification. This property became ready in March 2015. Please look at our accommodation page.
In December 2014 we were approached by the local authorities to design a bespoke package of care for a young individual who was located out of area and who had had several failed placements. We worked closely with the family and they were a huge part of the process of buying the property and designing the interior to how they felt their son would like it. The individual moved in at the end of April 2015. As you can see the timescales were very tight and looking back we do wonder how we were able to make this families dream come true, but we did and it is an adjoining property to another service. CLBD have recruited staff from varying backgrounds. Some with experience of working with individuals that may challenge and some with a like-minded value base. Families and service users have been part of the recruitment process.
We have dedicated PROACT-SCIPr-UK® instructors who train staff to support individuals in a challenging environment. We currently have two staff members training at The Tizard University with the view to teaching in house staff Positive Behaviour Support Models which will enable the service users to progress to their maximum potential.
