Debbie is the co-founder of CLBD and has recently moved from her role as owner and director to become a trustee. She previously worked for the NHS, progressing to a senior level before leaving in November 2013 to set up CLBD. As an enthusiastic and dedicated senior nursing professional, she gained considerable expertise in the management and delivery of person-centred care within Mental Health and Learning Disability services.
Debbie’s passion for developing services stems from her own experience as a parent to a daughter with a learning disability. She understands first-hand the barriers families can face when accessing services and the impact this can have not only on the individual, but also on the wider family and social network.
During her time leading CLBD, Debbie instilled a values-led approach to supporting individuals, always putting people, relationships, and quality at the centre of every decision. Her ethos of kindness, respect and compassion shapes the culture of CLBD and continues to influence how we work, how we support people and how we make decisions across the organisation today.
Richard is the co-founder of CLBD, alongside Debbie, and now serves as a trustee of the organisation. Richard is a successful businessman with a background in property and construction, specialising in the development of new homes. On a personal level, Richard has experience of welcoming into his family a person with enduring mental illness and a learning disability, providing her with her own home and supporting her through the challenges of integrating into mainstream mental health services after several unsuccessful placements and poor-quality care.
As a trustee, Richard draws on both his business expertise and personal experience to help guide CLBD’s long-term direction. He remains closely interested in how the organisation is managed, how properties are developed and maintained, and how resources are used, ensuring that CLBD stays financially robust while staying true to its values and commitment to high-quality, values led care.
